The required cover was to be created with typography only. I kept it single to communicate a very strong visual message of the journey undertaken by the protagonist throughout the novel. The "Alchemist" in yellow against the dark textured red leather background immediately captures the consumers' eye and communicates the title instantly.

I illustrated coins going into a trash can to introduce flow and movement to the page, making it interesting when contrasted against the heavy block letters on the next page.

Keeping a consistent colour theme that was not as grim as a classic Orwellian one, I utilized interesting shapes and a lot of movement to keep the reader's attention on the second page. The placement of the pull-quote nicely breaks the wall of text, allowing for the eyes to rest and introducing an interesting element to the page.
